Seaside (Day 29 Of NaPoWriMo)

Seaside house

Tiled floor

Like white lifeguard chairs

Speckled in sand.

Walls painted in shades of

As if ocean waves splashed upon them

Alive and smelling of lathered sunscreen

All summer long

Early June to late August.

Where cooler air approached

Pushing us away

Making us run, jolt

Like children sprinting toward

Seagull flocks.

We packed up the house

And repeated salted goodbyes.

Folding the residence into a suitcase

Like that of a dollhouse.

Summer memories contained

Shut tight and locked

Only to be reopened

In another set of 365 days.
