National Poetry Writing Month: Day 3 – Seashell

Sea breeze
Waltzed
Across the freckled
Surface,
The rigid and the smooth.
Beige textile
Like the skin of a
Cantaloupe
Found in
Seaside markets.
Spiraling delicately
Like the ones attached to
Front porch chimes
Clanging below
Periwinkle skies.

Catching sun
And umbrella shade,
Kissing the corners
Of towels,
Squinting above sand
Like alligator eyes,
Crocodile spectacles.

Pieces and
Fragments
Of the ocean,
Whirling in tides
Like globes.
