Pebble: A Poem

I wanted your
Sneakers
To catch dust
By the foyer door.

But after clouds rolled in
And rain fell,
My heart told me
I had better luck
Collecting dust
On the sills I clench tight,
Waiting to see your reflection
In the window.

So I fill your shoes
With weeds and pebbles,
The scraggly lump
And sharp bump
In your footsteps
Evermore.
